Across the learning series, you’ll encounter different contexts – workplaces, educational settings, community systems. As you move through the stories, data points, and activities that follow, we invite you to practice meta-reflexivity through a specific orientation:

  • Rather than asking: “Do I agree with this?” or “Would I have handled this differently?” Instead, notice: Where do systems succeed or fail in converting effort into opportunity – and, taken together, where do barriers appear to migrate rather than disappear?
  • The research behind Breaking Barriers & Building Opportunity shows that inequity is rarely the result of a single moment or decision. Instead, it emerges through patterns that repeat across systems, roles, and time.
  • Our curriculum is guided by the belief that when we can name such problems more clearly, we can name the solutions – and our subsequent actions – more clearly too.
